If you’re planning on going on holiday, you have a few options. You can fly, you can take a cruise, or you can take a self-driving holiday around the country. Australia has some amazing places to visit, and if you’ve never been outside of your own city or area, you don’t know what you’re missing. Here are some of the benefits of taking a self-driving holiday.

Visit Friends and Family

When you fly or take a cruise to your destination, you bypass everything in between there and your home. If you drive, though, you can make as many stops along the way as you want. You can visit friends you haven’t seen in years and stop in to see your family members for a short visit. In fact, the entire point of your self-driving holiday may be to visit people you haven’t seen in years.

Have a Flexible Schedule

Taking a self-driving holiday means you don’t have a set departure or arrival time. You may not even have a set number of days for your holiday. You can drive as quickly or as slowly as you want, stopping here and there whenever you see something interesting. You might have a few things scheduled, of course, but you have the option to leave the rest of your time unplanned. This can be a great way of discovering something amazing that’s a little off the beaten path. You just have to take the time to look around and be willing to take a detour.

Save on Lodging Costs

A self-driving holiday can be costly if you reserve multiple hotel rooms along the way, but that’s not the only option. Choosing an option such as a campervan hire can save you money on lodging plus save wear and tear on your own automobile. These vehicles can be quite spacious and have plenty of room for you and everyone else traveling with you. Smaller campervans are perfect for you and your spouse, while larger vehicles can accommodate an entire family.

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

If you love the great outdoors, a self-driving holiday is a great way to experience it. You can stop along the way to camp outdoors either in a tent or your campervan. Imagine sitting around a fire with your loved ones listening to the sounds of nature. It’s a holiday that’s hard to experience any other way except by taking a self-driving holiday.

Enjoy Your Privacy

A self-driving holiday is private. You don’t have to share a small airplane aisle or a train cabin with anyone else. You have complete freedom to stop for lunch whenever you want and change your schedule without consulting a travel group, plus you can avoid traveling with people whom you find annoying. No one will be kicking the back of your seat, nor will you have to listen to a crying child for hours unless, of course, you’re taking a child along on your trip. Those who enjoy their privacy will enjoy a self-driving holiday.
